Student Opportunities
A key feature of GEAR UP is that students don’t need to apply to participate. All students at our GEAR UP New Hampshire and GEAR UP Manchester schools are part of our cohort. GEAR UP coordinators and school counselors are available to help you access programs.
Academic Development
GEAR UP offers many programs designed to build academic skills. Programs include GEAR UP for Success, the GEAR UP Summer Reading Program, tutoring, academic competitions, and more. We also partner with training programs like Yale Young Global Scholars, iTutor, and Paradigm Shift for training that meets your needs.
Programs are designed to help students of any academic standing achieve their education goals. You can talk with your GEAR UP coordinator or school counselor to learn what programs will best help you.

If I could make one change to the summer program, I wouldn’t because every day is awesome!
Leadership Development
GEAR UP offers a variety of additional leadership opportunities throughout the year. Reach out to your GEAR UP coordinator or school counselor to find out how to get involved.
You can also contact our GEAR UP program staff by using one of the contact forms below.

For questions about GEAR UP Manchester, contact Nicole Nover, GEAR UP Family and Community Outreach Specialist.

College and Career Preparation
In addition to academic skill building, we help our students prepare for college and careers by:
- Navigating education, employment, and military service options.
- Planning for four-year university, community college, or technical school.
- Applying to and paying for college.
- Honing workforce and job application skills.
- Understanding ROTC and military recruitment.
Scholarships
Through an exciting partnership, Plymouth State University is making additional “On the Move” scholarships available to our students. All students participating in GEAR UP Manchester or GEAR UP New Hampshire academic programs are eligible. If you apply to and enroll in Plymouth State in 2022–2025, you can receive a scholarship of $2,000/year. That’s $8,000 over four years of college.
