The New Hampshire GEAR UP Alliance is a community-based initiative that engages a broad coalition of partners. In addition to local businesses, GEAR UP works with K–12 schools, colleges and universities, and nonprofit organizations throughout New Hampshire.

Grant Administrators

 

Campus Compact for New Hampshire (CCNH) and the New Hampshire College & University Council (NHCUC) work in partnership to administer the New Hampshire GEAR UP Alliance. CCNH and NHCUC are committed to expanding education opportunities and community impact in New Hampshire. The Alliance is one of many ways they work to help New Hampshire students succeed in school and beyond.

Campus Compact for New Hampshire

Campus Compact for New Hampshire is a statewide consortium of college and university presidents and private-sector partners committed to the public purposes of education. As part of a national coalition of college and university leaders, CCNH works to integrate community service and civic responsibility throughout college life.

Among other roles, CCNH administers the Northern New England AmeriCorps VISTA Collaboration. The Collaboration’s AmeriCorps VISTA members provide essential volunteer support in New Hampshire GEAR UP Alliance schools.

New Hampshire College & University Council

The New Hampshire College & University Council is a nonprofit consortium of colleges and universities that collaborate to expand education opportunities across the state. NHCUC members include public, private, two-year, and four-year institutions that work together to enhance education and foster economic development in New Hampshire.

NHCUC provides overall leadership and administration of the New Hampshire GEAR UP Alliance in collaboration with CCNH.

Community Partners

 

The New Hampshire GEAR UP Alliance partners with a range of other national, state, and local organizations. These partners help deliver high-impact programs and resources for students across the state.

New Hampshire Scholars

The New Hampshire Scholars initiative encourages students to prepare for college and careers by taking a rigorous course of study in high school. Coursework is designed to support transition to the college or vocational training necessary to enter today’s job market. GEAR UP students participate in New Hampshire Scholars as a strategy to ensure they are prepared for their postsecondary plans.

Northern New England AmeriCorps VISTA Collaboration

The Northern New England AmeriCorps VISTA Collaboration is a partnership among the Campus Compact state organizations in New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont. The collaboration supports service and service-learning programs across the organizations’ 70+ colleges and universities. These programs combat poverty by improving college access and success among low-income students.

AmeriCorps is a national service program in which volunteers apply their skills in underserved communities, designing programs that will continue after they complete their service. Among other work, Northern New England AmeriCorps VISTAs build sustainable structures and resources to help New Hampshire GEAR UP Alliance students succeed.

Center for College Planning at NHHEAF

The Center for College Planning (CCP) is a program of the New Hampshire Higher Education Assistance Foundation . It is dedicated to providing students and families with valuable information about the college planning process. Information ranges from college admissions requirements to applying for financial aid and scholarships. CCP promotes college as a means to achieve personal, career, and life goals in 100% of the public high schools in New Hampshire.

Career & College Clubs

Career & College Clubs is a research-based career and college readiness program for grades 7–12. Its curriculum is based on career and college readiness standards developed by the National Council for Community and Education Partnerships and informed by the ACT Holistic Framework .

Paradigm Shift

Paradigm Shift offers programs, services, and activities geared toward empowering educators and students to be strong leaders. Paradigm Shift consultants use practical leadership and adventure-based models to help leaders develop powerful relationships, set goals, create personal responsibility, and develop a defined purpose.

YMCA of Greater Manchester

For decades the YMCA has offered programs that help children reach their potential, let families and individuals achieve better health outcomes, and encourage community members to get involved in making their community a better place.

As a Local Education Agency (LEA) of the GEAR UP Manchester grant, the YMCA of Greater Manchester provides opportunities for students to participate in its programs. These include the STAY after-school program and the Power Scholars summer program.

Partnering School Districts

Our partnering school districts serve as Local Education Agencies (LEAs) for the GEAR UP New Hampshire and GEAR UP Manchester grants. These districts work with school and GEAR UP staff to bring high-value programming to all students at participating schools.
